Welcome to the English Department.

Our Mission Statement
We aim to continue to improve learning and teaching in order to ensure our young people achieve their potential.  We aim to offer creative and exciting lessons, using a variety of texts and learning tools, to enrich the experiences of our young people. We aim to maintain the high expectations we have of our young people and to continue to promote the Christian values of our school community. We aim to foster, promote and develop a love of English literature and language within our young people.

Our Curriculum

We are determined to enrich the experience of our learners and offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as theatre trips (London and Glasgow), a creative writing club, a sponsored readathon,assisting S6 with a monthly food-bank for the local community as well as various Malawi initiatives run by Mr McKay. These activities all help to improve our young peoples' experience with English as a subject and provide them with resilience and a social conscience for the world beyond.
