S1 RE Course - Synopsis
 
Using the storyline and characters from the film, “Pinocchio”, we explore the idea of our relationship with God and how we can improve it.  St Margaret is given as our role model in the way we respect God and treat others.  The idea of resisting peer pressure and using your God given talents are stressed throughout.  The areas covered are as follows; 
 
  • St Margaret – Her life, Our Patron Saint and Example.
  • Through “The Lion King” and its characters we explore;
  • St.Margaret – Our School’s Patron Saint
  • Creation, Covenant & Bible
  • Mary – Mother of God
  • November – Month of the Holy Souls
  • Advent
  • Jesus in His Time
  • Lent
  • Easter
  • Called to Love Programme(Relationships & Sex Education)
  • S1 Welcome Masses & Patronal Feast Day Mass – Called Back to God 
 
First Year Retreats, timed to help pupils realise the importance of St Margaret as our school’s Patron Saint, will take place at Dunfermline in September this year.
 
The S1 Charity Event is a sponsored ‘Slide-a-thon’ held during October.  All monies will go to their designated charity – Lepra – helping those who suffer from leprosy.

 


S2 RE Course - Synopsis
 
Using the storyline and characters from the film, “The Lion King”, we explore the idea of our relationship with God and how we can improve it.  St Margaret is given as our role model in the way we respect God and treat others.  The idea of resisting peer pressure and using your God given talents are stressed throughout.  The areas covered are as follows; 
 
           
Through “The Lion King” and its characters we explore;
  • Vocations(Marriage & Holy Orders) – Called By God
  • Creation, Covenant & Bible
  • Mary – Mother of God
  • November – Month of the Holy Souls
  • Advent
  • Jesus in His Time
  • Lent
  • Easter
  • Called to Love Programme(Relationships & Sex Education)
  • Sacrament of Reconciliation – Called Back to God 

Second Year Retreats will see pupil journey to Inchmahome Priory on the Lake of Monteith in June. More details will be provided nearer the time.
 
The S2 Charity Event is a sponsored ‘Slide-a-thon’ held during Lent.  All monies will go to their designated charity – Guide Dogs for the Blind.
 

 


S3 RE Course - Synopsis
 
Using the storyline and characters from the film, “The Karate Kid”, we explore the idea of our relationship with God and how we can improve it.  The idea of life as a journey towards Heaven is stressed throughout.  The areas covered are as follows; 
 
Moral Ambivalence (Good and Evil in all of us)
Gospel of Luke (and Sacraments)
Prayer (Our relationship with God)
Sexual Morality 
 
Third Year Retreats will be held in Newmains Pastoral Centre in April.  The theme, which runs throughout our year, will be ‘Choices’.  More details will be provided nearer the time.
 
 
The S3 Charity Event is held during Lent.  All monies will go to their designated charity – Teen Challenge.
